I was watching the documentary TV series "Raging Planet" which is about natural disasters, and while watching the one about avalanches it occurred to me, of all the natural disaster pictures/drawings/paintings I've made over the years i've never made one of an avalanche. I decided to change that so i made this piece while watching the show. I made it movie poster style with various images i found online.
While watching the documentary, an avalanche survivor actually said the phrase "I never knew anything so white could be so black." I stopped feeling sorry for him...

Reusing photos :)
I took this photo of myself to make my logo image, then i used it again recently to make the Vampire picture. I think this is the first time I've used the same photo of myself to make more than one artwork. I think I should do this more often since it saves time...now I sound lazy lol

New Painting: Siphon
Just finished today. Background painted by my best friend/partner in crime Scott, the foreground by yours truly.
Wound test
I bought some new stuff online to create wounds. It's called Pros-Aide which is used like liquid latex but it's much stronger. I tried it out in my wound molds but they stuck and wouldn't come out. i ended up using a latex wound and applying it with the new adhesive. It came out okay and it stuck pretty well. We'll see what happens when I try it out some more.

Wound Test
Tried making a wound with Ben Nye's gelatin wound kit in a mold. It came out okay and blended into the skin nicely but the gelatin is so soft it was hard to paint. It's also very fragile so i don't know how effective it will be on a costume, maybe just for film.

First attempt at burn scars
This was my first attempt at creating scarring from burns using my Ben Nye Scar Gel on Scott's face. I'm not too satisfied with the results so I will experiment with different materials next time.

Paintings in Process
Here are a couple of my in process paintings. They are going to be part of my ArtForSharks series of shark related artwork which I plan to sell and then donate a percentage of the earnings to the Sea Shepherd's Shark Defense Campaign. The first one on the left is a framed cork-board covered in strips of newspaper stuck on with wallpaper paste and has a thin layer of white painted over. The middle is three small wooden squares glued together and wrapped in fabric. The one on the right is a shelf with a wood texture painted on and a thin layer of blotchy green and blue. I don't have any definite ideas for these yet so we'll see what happens.
